WHAT IS SIM CARD REGISTRATION
SIM card registration is the process of recording the personal details and verifying mobile phone number/s of the subscriber. The personal details include the following
- Date of Birth
- Id card type and Number
- Telephone Number
- Postal or physical Address
WHEN MUST I REGISTER?
All new and existing mobile phone numbers must be registered to be activated
on a mobile network in the Gambia on or before 15th September 2012.
WHY DO WE REGISTER SIM CARDS?
- Personal security: the individual subscriber is protected against
- Prank calls
- Threatening text message.
- Reduces greatly crime
- Deters terrorism, drug trafficking and money laundering
HOW DO WE REGISTER A SIM CARD?
Registration should be done in person
For Gambian Nationals you will need EITHER of the following in original form:
- Biometric ID card
- Biometric Drivers licence
- Voters’ card
- National Passport
For foreign Nationals, EITHER of the following in original form:
- Valid Passport
- Valid National Identity Card issued by parent country,
- Valid driver’s License
- Alien’s card
- Any of the above with a residential address in the Gambia.
WILL MY INFORMATION BE KEPT SAFE?
All information will be kept confidential in a secure data base. The information collected shall NOT be disclosed to any person unless as required by any written law.
WHERE CAN YOU REGISTER YOUR CARD?
Registration will take place at all our customer care centers or any designated registration place.
HOW MUCH WILL IT COST ME TO REGISTER?
SIM card registration is absolutely free of charge.
CAN SOMEONE REGISTER FOR ME?
In case you cannot do the registration, someone else can register the SIM card in his/her name but the person will be responsible for your number.
WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF I HAVE NOT REGISTERED BY THE SET DEADLINE OF SEPTEMBER 2012?
Your SIM card shall be deactivated and you will not be able to make or receive calls
